On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Black Grown & Magic Holdings Group (BGM) hosted Through the Fire Fireside Chat and music event in West Palm Beach’s Historic Northwest District. Held at Wild Rose Wine & Daiquiri Bar in the Styx Promenade, the event celebrated the close of International Black Women’s Month by highlighting the triumphant stories of local Black women.
Event host and BGM founder Ladi Goldwire said the women chosen as guests of honor were “not your typical honorees.” But this select group of women are “all engaged in valiant efforts to advance the Black community and are people who consistently show up,” Goldwire said.

The event featured a dinner and award ceremony that honored Community Activator Award recipients: Lynne Hubbard, Cindy March, Marvelous Washington, and Clarence and Frieda Holland, parents of the late Terrence Holland. Recipients of the Community Impact & Resilience Award included: Palm Beach County State Attorney Alexia Cox, Attorney Jaianna Seaborne, Attorney V. Lynn Whitfield, Salesia V. Smith-Gordon, Esq., Attorney Ethel Williams, Melva Harris Rozier, Marcia Rowe Hayden, Whitney Baldwin Powell, and Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. The final Courage Under Fire Award was presented to Marilyn Mosby, Esq. Her tumultuous-turned-victorious story was also the highlight of the event’s fireside chat.

To close out the event, renowned guitarist Jubu Smith performed live.
When asked why an event like this is important in Palm Beach County, Goldwire said, “There are so many stories amongst these women. And at one time or another, they were [all] getting beat up in the [news] headlines. But there is always more to every story.” Moreover, Goldwire said her core desire for the event was “to demonstrate to people in the thick of it that you will always come out on the other side.”
